Desde el inicio del ‘rescate’ del Archivo Histórico de la Policía Nacional, su personal se ha visto bajo diversas presiones, el trabajo no ha sido facil.
Su aportación es invaluable, particularmente para aquellos que durante largos años hemos vivido con la esperanza de saber que sucedió a nuestros compañeros y familiares desaparecidos o asesinados.
From the onset of the 'rescue' operation to save the documents discovered at the Historical Archive of the National Police, the staff have been under various pressures, and the specialist work carried out has not been easy. However, their work, and its role in the re-construction of Guatemala’s historical memory, is invaluable, particularly for those who, for years, have lived in the hope of knowing what happened to our friends and family, those who were disappeared or killed.

Alberto Fuentes, head of infrastructure, logistics and security for the archives was, from the start of production of The Echo, our principal contact at the Police Archives. His warmth and generosity were welcomed and appreciated. With Alberto, as well, we conducted an interview around the circumstances under which the information in the infamous Military Diary was collected.
